Should you charge an electric car to 100%?
To maintain your battery, it is considered best practice to avoid constantly charging your electric car to 100%.
Typically, your daily driving habits will not require the car’s full 100% range, so you should try to only charge all the way if you need to do so for a long journey. Around 80% is generally considered to be the sweet spot and you can adjust charging limits accordingly to help this.
Driving Electric report that most electric car batteries have built-in buffers with help mitigate the chances of degradation over time. They suggest avoiding overcharging your electric car, but also not letting it run completely flat, as a general rule of thumb.
