What makes it stand out?
Here's where the A6 Avant e-tron makes its case: a properly premium electric estate that doesn't compromise.
The good bits:
Seriously impressive range: Up to 437 miles (WLTP Comb) means you're genuinely not thinking about charging very often.
Rapid charging that lives up to the name: 270kW DC charging gets you from 10-80% in 21 minutes. Ten minutes adds around 183 miles. That's properly quick.
Dual charging ports: Passenger side (AC and DC) and driver's side (AC only) mean you're never parked the wrong way at a charger. It’s simple but brilliant.
Smooth, powerful performance: 380 PS delivers effortless overtaking and motorway merging. 0-60 in 5.4 seconds feels quick without being aggressive.
Tech that actually works: The head-up display takes getting used to but becomes genuinely useful. Good balance between touchscreen and physical buttons means you're not hunting through menus for basic controls.
Thoughtful everyday features: Heated seats and steering wheel, generous boot space, USB-C charging points, and cup holders are all included.
Surprisingly nimble: Impressive turning circle for a car this size makes tight spaces far less stressful.
Looks fantastic: A sleek, aerodynamic design that doesn’t look like it's trying too hard. Those illuminated Audi rings at the rear are subtle but look proper premium.
Downsides?
Honestly? There aren't many major faults to pick at.
Rear ride quality isn't perfect: While the front is smooth and comfortable, rear passengers might feel bumps more than expected. If you're prone to travel sickness, the back seat might not be your favourite place on longer journeys.
That raised middle rear floor: It's odd for an EV. The middle rear seat floor rises slightly, which feels unnecessary given EVs typically have flat floors. Not a deal-breaker, but it's noticeable.
Head-up display learning curve: It's distracting at first. You'll get used to it and appreciate it eventually, but those first few drives take some adjustment.
Premium price tag: From £71,700, the A6 Avant e-tron Performance isn't cheap. But then again, you're getting a lot of car for that money, and the running costs will be significantly lower than an equivalent petrol or diesel executive estate.
These are minor niggles in the grand scheme of things, but still worth keeping in mind.
