Affordable luxury? Yes, really.

The Jaecoo 7 is a high-tech super hybrid SUV from Chery, the Chinese manufacturer behind Omoda.

The Jaecoo 7 is loaded with all the bells and whistles (and maybe a few you didn’t even know you needed). It's a car that wants to do it all – and for a fraction of the price of some of its premium rivals.

The name originates from the German word ‘Jäger’ (meaning 'hunter') and the English word 'cool'. It really is Jaecool.

OTR prices range from £29,435 to £35,065, depending on the model you choose.

It may make a cheap car lease, but it’s not a slacker.

Its low price tag also means you avoid the expensive car supplement introduced for cars over £40k. This fully loaded tech beast is way ahead of the curve.

But what do you need to know about it?

Many cars that are this packed with tech don’t usually think about the usability of the systems. You have to know it to be able to do it.

That wasn’t the case with the Jaecoo 7. It was intuitive and handled everything you needed, and more, with ease.

But it’s still useful to know its full potential before making the commitment and leasing.

Range and charging

The Jaecoo 7 is available as a plug-in hybrid or a petrol combustion engine.

The plug-in hybrid isn’t just any old hybrid system—it uses a Super Hybrid System.

Prioritising electric driving, it uses the petrol engine to charge up the battery. It even has regenerative braking to help you go that bit further.

Its range? A whopping 750 miles.

If you’re not quite ready to make the leap to electric, a hybrid lease is a good way to ease you in. And with this range, what’s not to love?

Electric cars these days often have the option of rapid charging, with some such as the Tesla Model Y having the capability to go from 0-80% in as little as 30 minutes.

The Jaecoo 7 offers 412 litres of boot space with the seats up and 1,335 litres when folded down, providing a decent amount of room for everyday needs.

There's also a handy compartment under the boot floor, ideal for storing the charging cable in the plug-in hybrid version, keeping things neat and organised.

So, of course, we must include this. With it having adjustable cupholders, we managed to fit our big water bottles with ease. 

No worries about any spillages either.
