The cars we'd choose for a Disney happily-ever-after

These are the car leases that’d suit a modern-day Disney Princess.

Another year, another Disney live-action remake. With Snow White hitting the theatres as we write this, we bet you’ll be taking the kids to see it a time or two.

And whatever you think of the remake, it’s made us nostalgic for our favourite Disney films.

We so love a fairy tale with a happily-ever-after; the happy couple riding off into the proverbial sunset.

But in this day and age, happily-ever-after is in sore need of an upgrade.

Say goodbye to horseback rides and carriage get-aways, we’re giving some of our favourite Disney Princesses a car lease of their own.

From the MG4 EV, to the BYD Dolphin, to the Genesis G80, these are the cars we see our heroines starting their new lives in.

Which one would suit your happily-ever-after?

Snow White

There’s no better place to start than with Disney’s OG Princess.

But what car would we give to a young woman literally described as the ‘fairest’ in the land? The most beautiful princess needs a beautiful car to match.

And with so many on the market, choosing the perfect car lease is harder than it looks.

No chunky hatchbacks, or ungainly estate cars for Snow White. She needs something sleek and sophisticated.

She needs a saloon.

And what better or more beautiful saloon than the Genesis G80?

The G80 is elegant, but dynamic.

It’s classy, but with playful interior touches that sets it apart from classic saloons. And yes, we’re talking about the Open Pore Real Wood finish.

It’s the perfect little detail for a princess who literally ran away to live in the forest, but now has to turn up to formal events.

Cinderella

It’s the ultimate rags-to-riches fairy tale, but who is the real hero in this story?

Forget fairy godmothers and handsome princes: it’s all about the carriage in this one.

The pumpkin, to be more precise.

Because we all know Cinderella would never reach the ball without it. It is literally the vehicle through which she achieves a better future.

So, her car? It should be equally aspirational.

And in the long line up of contenders, it’s the MG4 EV we’re going for.

It’s economical. It’s electric. More importantly, an MG4 in its signature bright orange paint is giving us major pumpkin vibes.

We all know how much Cinderella’s future depends on a perfect fit: and with the MG4, we’re confident we’ve found it.

Mulan

A Chinese heroine deserves a Chinese-made car.

And while there are a lot of fab Chinese manufacturers hitting the UK right now (BYD, Jaecoo and XPENG just to name a few), the choice here was clear.

If Mulan leased a car, it’d be the brand-new Omoda 5.

It’s the car you can literally talk to with its “Hello Omoda” voice control tech.

We think that’s perfect for a girl who spends most of her film talking to a pet dragon, (and other animal companions), instead of other people.

It’s early days yet, but the Omoda 5 could prove to be something of a trailblazer. Just like Mulan.

Ariel

Ariel’s strongest character trait is definitely her curiosity.

So, we think as far as cars go, she’d be interested in a car with a boatload of tech and a bucket-full of quirk.

It might be named the BYD SEAL, but our choice for Ariel belongs firmly on the ground. It’s giving the best of both worlds; on-road capabilities with aquatic vibes. 

And for a mermaid-turned-human, Ariel definitely needs something that marries home comfort with her future on land.

The beautiful BYD SEAL manages all that and more. 

Tiana

While Tiana might be in the princess line up, she doesn’t grow up dreaming of marrying a handsome prince.

Her dreams are much more independent. She’s a strong female CEO in the making, a business-owner-to-be.

What could be more appropriate than something that gives off a powerful executive vibe? Like the Mercedes-Benz EQE.

It’s refined. It’s comfortable. And the electric engine means it’s a forward-thinking option for someone investing in her future.

What more could a young woman like Tiana ask for?

Belle 

Her hometown might view her as an oddity, but Belle is definitely ahead of her time. As the daughter of an inventor, she’s someone who likes a good idea.

She appreciates innovation.

She’d probably really enjoy an EV.

So, we’ve gone ahead and given her the Polestar 3 for her fairytale ending.

The panoramic sunroof is perfect for stargazing on clear nights; because if you’re going to take your head out of a book, it may as well be for something as breath-taking as a starry night sky.

We think the yellow accents throughout the cabin are a perfect match for her yellow ballgown too. 

Jasmine

Someone who spends half their story trying to escape the confines of their sheltered life should not be stuck inside a stuffy cabin.

So, it makes sense then that Jasmine would be looking at a convertible for her lease car. Because in the real world that’s probably as close as you’re going to get to flying on a magic carpet on the road.

With so many beautiful convertibles on the market though, which one would be right for Jasmine?

The Mazda MX-5 is probably a good one to start with. It handles beautifully, has a nimble chassis, and enough power to feel really quite nippy.

Great for feeling like you could zip around the world in one night.

Rapunzel

Rapunzel, more than any of our heroines, needs a great long stonker of a car. And no, it’s not about the legroom.

It’s not even really about having headroom.

It’s about having space for her long, golden mane of hair.

She can’t have it flying along behind her in a soft-top (that would be a definite traffic hazard).

We think an estate would be perfect for containing her luscious locks. And if you’re going to choose an estate car, you may as well choose the VW ID.7 Tourer.

It’s not often you see an estate that doesn’t look ungainly, but the ID.7 Tourer still manages to give a sleek sporty vibe on a family wagon.

And the fact that it’s electric definitely doesn’t hurt.

Pocahontas 

We thought long and hard about what would suit our Native American princess.

Pocahontas would want something environmentally friendly, so combustion engines? They’re so out.

Arguably, someone so in-tune with nature wouldn’t want to rely on cars at all, but we’re talking about life in the modern age: we can’t uninvent the steering wheel.

So, an EV lease it is!

And after careful consideration, we’re tentatively suggesting the Ford Capri could be a good fit. We think Pocahontas would appreciate repurposing something old and turning it into something more with zero carbon emissions.

That’s what Ford have done with the new Capri. With design cues taken from the old model, an impressive range and a really practical boot, this could be the coupe SUV of choice for modern America.

We’re loving it in the UK too.
